Axis II – Thematic Projects – is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) with a total budget of 825 million euro. Axis II aims at strengthening research infrastructures and the capacity to develop excellence in research and innovation as well as promoting the creation of competence centres, in particular those of European interest. Axis II is built around 3 Actions.


Action II. 1 Research Infrastructures

The aim is to enhance existing research infrastructures for the implementation of projects covering one or more domains of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures and having a significant impact on the trajectories defined in the NSSS.

Action II. 2 Clusters 

The objective is to support industrial research and experimental development projects covering the 12 Specialization Areas identified in the NRP 2015-2020 and in line with those identified by the NSSS.

Action II. 3 Key Enabling Technologies (KETs)
 

The objective is to support research and innovation projects developed in the 12 Specialization Areas identified by the NRP 2015-2020 and focusing on Key Enabling Technologies - KETs through the activation of the Fund of Funds financial instrument and the implementation of international cooperation projects in highly strategic industrial sectors (ECSEL initiative).
