Innovative Industrial Doctorates – Cycle XXXVI

With Directorial Decree no. 1233 of 30 July 2020, the MUR published a Call for the funding of additional PhD scholarships – Cycle XXXVI financed using the resources of the NOP Research and Innovation 2014-2020 and the Development and Cohesion Fund (FSC) under the “Research and Innovation 2015-2017”Priority Plan (Piano Stralcio).

The implementation of measures to support human capital laid down in the NOP Research and Innovation 2014-2020 under Axis I “Investment in Human Capital”– Action I.1 - Innovative Industrial Doctorates – continues in the academic year 2020/2021 with a budget of 16 million euro for the promotion and strengthening of higher education and postgraduate doctoral programmes, in line with the needs of the national production system and the National Smart Specialization Strategy. 
In addition, 10 million euro from the Development and Cohesion Fund will be allocated, under the ”Research and Innovation 2015-2017” Priority Plan (Piano Stralcio), Axis“Human Capital”, to finance PhD scholarships focusing on issues concerning the country’s inner and marginalized areas, as per the prior information notice published in December 2019.

The call is open to different types of applicants for PhD scholarships, depending on the funding source. In fact, applications for funding from resources of the NOP Research and Innovation 2014-2020 may only be submitted by state and non-state Universities recognized by the Ministry of University and Research, having their administrative and operational headquarters in the less developed regions (Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Puglia and Sicily) and transition regions (Abruzzo, Molise, Sardinia), whose doctoral programmes have already been accredited at the date of application, pursuant to Ministerial Decree no. 45 of 8 February 2013 of the Minister of University and Research “Regulations on the procedures for the accreditation of doctoral schools and programmes and the criteria for the establishment of doctoral programmes by accredited institutions.

Only state and non-state Universities recognized by the Ministry of University and Research, having their administrative and operational headquarters in the southern regions (Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily) and in the central-northern regions (Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Piedmont, Tuscany, Trentino-Alto Adige, Umbria, Valle d'Aosta and Veneto) whose doctoral programmes have been accredited at the date of application, pursuant to Ministerial Decree no. 45 of 8 February 2013 of the Minister of University and Research, will be eligible for funding from the “Research and Innovation 2015-2017”Priority Plan (Piano Stralcio) covering topics identified in the National Strategy for Inner Areas.

Applications for funding must be submitted by Universities through a format developed by the MUR and available at http://dottorati.miur.it, from 15:00 on 25 August 2020. Each University must specify, for each PhD course, the number of additional PhD scholarships, up to a maximum of two for each type of funding. Applications must be submitted, exclusively electronically, no later than 15.00 on 28 September 2020.
