Project

Omnia Genius aims to develop an energy monitoring and control system for public and private buildings. The system will integrate into a single device different applications ranging from energy management to smart living to safety, which are currently offered separately on the market. The device will enable users to have an active role in controlling the consumption of the electrical appliances in use, making use of the latest IoT (Internet of Things) technologies.

Financial Resources
The project obtained 675.000 euro in funding from the NOP Research and Innovation 2014-2020 under the action “Thematic Projects - Key Enabling Technologies - KETs” through the Fund of Funds for Research and Innovation managed by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and established to increase investment in research and development. The EU resources available to the Fund of Funds are invested through one or more financial intermediaries and may take the form of loans, equity or quasi-equity, or equivalent instruments.

Impact on the Territory
This research project falls within the Smart Specialization areas “Energy” and “Technologies for Living Environments” and within the enabling technology “Micro- and Nanoelectronics”. The beneficiary of the funding is Automation Engineering Innovation Srl (AE Innovation), a company that has been operating in the field of automation and information technology since 2004. As well as strengthening the company’s growth and consolidation strategy, the project is expected to have an immediate impact in terms of employment by retaining highly qualified personnel in Calabria. The investment plan involves the establishment of a small scale production plant at the operational headquarters of Zumpano (Cosenza). The company is planning to build a facility in the province of Cosenza suitable for the production of up to 500.000 pieces a year.
